This is the point where I give a little shout out to my dear friend Aubrey. She has an entertaining and very honest blog here (Hey Aubs, I figured out how to do that thing! Nice, huh?) She's pretty much awesome. She not only introduced me to blogging in the first place, but she also introduced me to fashion blogging. Of course I should have figured such a thing exists, but if I'm going to be perfectly honest (which I am, like it or not) I have to admit I'm sort of non tech savvy. Man, there is a LOT of stuff on the internet... including awesome fashion bloggers, which is what brings me here :) Not to say that I'm an awesome fashion blogger, because I'm definitely not (not yet, at least). But those girls over there in my side bar sure are. I've been so inspired by the creativity of some of my favorites, like Tieka at Slective Potential, Sydney from the Daybook, and Heather over at Simply Sunstar (among many others!) I feel like it's such a great creative outlet. So I'm giving it a try.
So what's the deal with the "(frugal)" aspect of this blog? Well, here's the thing: I'm not going out of my way to make this blog about frugal or thrifty fashion, but the fact of the matter is that with the way I shop this blog will end up being frugal by nature. Pretty much everything I buy is either second hand, on sale, or cheap to begin with. This comes mostly from the fact that I have little money to work with, and partly from the fact that I actually enjoy sifting through racks of cloths I don't want in order to find that one piece I do want. The thrill of the hunt, I suppose. So just so everyone knows, at the moment I'm not planning on including pricing information on ALL my outfits, but I probably will add it to the ones that are especially cheap or especially fabulous. You know, the ones I'm extra proud of :) If you ever have questions about my cloths though, including how much they cost, just ask! I'll be happy to answer. In the long run I'm not really sure where this blog will go. We'll just see how it goes. I want it to be partly about the cloths and partly just stuff about my life, like what hubby and I are up to, maybe an occasional funny story about him because he cracks me up pretty much every single day. At some point I might include some regular features, if I come up with some good ideas. For right now I'm just going with the flow. I'm going to try to post two or three times a week at first. Oh, and the pictures might not be the best. I really need a new camera and thought about holding off on the blog until I get one, but who knows how long that might be. So you people might just have to deal!
Speaking of pictures, I have some for you now... except I have to give a little back story first (what!? more talking? I know, I know. Just try to contain your excitement a little longer).
I slept late today, but when my sister called to ask if I wanted to get coffee (which turned into coffee and shopping) of course I said yes. I rolled out of bed, washed my face, put my hair in a messy bun, threw on a tank top, sweater, and wrinkly jeans and voila! I was ready to walk out the door. No, I did not shower. Gross? Maybe. Do I care? No. Well, I've had the plan for this blog for a while and finally got the layout for it, but it's been sitting here with no posts, which my sister was aware of. She asked me when I was planning on posting and I said "oh, I don't know. I have to get some cute outfit pics to include in my first post" which is what I've been saying to myself since I set it up. Here's the conclusion I came to today though: this blog is partly about encouraging myself to dress a little more fashionably on a regular basis, but that doesn't mean I always do it. So what in the world could be more appropriate for a first post than just putting up pictures of what I actually wore out to coffee and shopping today? It's still me. And it's real. In the future I will spare you pictures of me on incredibly non note-worthy days like today, but I'm anxious to get my blog started and there's no time like the present. Plus I figure if I set the bar really low with today's outfit there's less chance you'll be disappointed with what I show you I'm wearing in the future... on a better day... like one where I actually shower and think about what I'm going to wear for more that two point five seconds.
So here we go. Setting the bar low. That's right; I'm keepin' it real people.
jeans: Levi's, bought at Ross; sweater: Walmart;
white tank: Wetseal; shoes: Payless
In the spirit of honesty I'll tell you these aren't actually the shoes I wore out shopping today; they're the shoes I bought while out shopping today. Love them.
And in the spirit of setting the bar low, I'll show you what I chaged into immediately after taking these outfit photos.
Why, yes, those are panthers on my pants. And thank you for noticing!
